For many years we have volunteered our time to many causes ranging from soup kitchens to church youth groups. As we planned for retirement we could not think of anything better than to retool ourselves to volunteer our time and money in new ways as we became older. We started our Alpaca business in 1998 as a way to leave the corporate jobs behind with their long hours and stress loads.
Now that we are enjoying our goal of a better lifestyle, we love raising alpacas and donating 20% of the proceeds of our alpaca sales to projects in third world countries. Some of the projects have included supporting an orphanage in India run by Quiet Hour Ministries, drilling community wells in third world countries through Maranatha Volunteers International and supporting Chasa Chapi Children’s Village thru Quechua Benefit.
Ruthie also is a part-time Nursing Clinical Instructor for Walla Walla University and is the volunteer Founder & Executive Director of Battle Ground Healthcare, providing chronic medical care and dental care to uninsured adults.
Daryl serves on the Quiet Hour Ministries board and is President of Quechua Benefit. We also go on 2-3 short-term mission trips ourselves each year.
